French football star Alexandre Lacazette has confirmed that he will be staying at Lyon for the coming season, despite interest from several top clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United.
Lacazette's decision to sign a new contract with Lyon is a significant blow to the ambitions of rivals Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who have been linked with a move for the forward.
The 28-year-old striker made a strong start to life at the Parc OL this season, scoring six goals in his first seven matches as Lyon looked to bounce back after finishing bottom of Ligue 1 last year.
Despite his impressive form, Lacazette has always expressed his desire to play in France and return to where he was born, so it is no surprise that he has chosen to commit his future to Lyon.
In an interview with Canal+, Lacazette said: "I am very happy to sign a new contract with Lyon. I feel very much at home here, and I want to continue playing for the club I love."
The forward added: "I'm not thinking about transfers or moving away from Lyon yet. My goal is to help Lyon achieve success in Ligue 1 and to win titles."
Lyon manager Bruno Genesio also spoke highly of Lacazette's commitment to the club, saying: "Alexandre is a player who is very important to us. He is a great talent and we are delighted that he wants to remain with us."
With Lacazette now signed on until 2024, Lyon fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they will have one of the best strikers in Europe next season.
